Movie Maniac added 1 item to Terror Blurbs! Part II (An Ever-Expanding List) list
Plot: After moving into a home with a murderous legacy, the father of a family descends into madness. A remake of the 70's film of the same name.
This one would be forgettable were it not such an aggressively awful example of how not to make a remake. Vapid, uninspired storytelling is made worse by weak horror tropes, cheap and pathetic jump scares, hideous CGI, incredulous characters, laughable scenarios, nary an iota of suspense, and the unshakeable realization that Ryan Reynolds truly can never fully shake just being himself. Furthermore, the viewer must contend with lighting, editing, and music that reek of a forced attempt to give the whole affair a Hollywood sheen but only serve to prove that polishing a turd will only make it stink worse. Rife with ugly effects, overwrought camera movements, and profoundly stupid writing, this one is for the dogs.
