Plot: A brilliant but obsessive surgeon will go to any length to attain the woman of his dreams in this adaptation of The Hands of Orloc.
Mad Love has always been something of an overlooked gem, rarely spoken off when its horror contemporaries are brought up but highly deserving of equal or greater praise. Peter Lorre brings his inimitable presence to a character that chimes truer than ever in the age of the bothersome, entitled, and enraged "incel" and, yet, remains an engaging onscreen presence rather than a revolting one. As an adaptation, it is most likely the best, however, the film shines on its own merits. Also, it packs a very memorable example of simple, but highly effective, special effects. Seek it out if you love horror history!
