Plot: An addict is drawn into an increasingly monstrous whirlwind of deception, death, and the uncanny that takes her beyond the limits of her imagination and into the designs of otherworldly beings. More of a reimagining of the first two Hellraiser movies than an outright remake or readaptation of the source material, this version cherry picks some of the more intriguing elements while elaborating on them with its own flourishes and style to create a very satisfactory product that both feels at home in the world of Hellraiser and yet feels unique. Add to that some stunning creature effects, intriguing tweaks to familiar concepts, nods to ideas seen in other Hellraiser media, an obvious respect for Clive Barker's style and themes, a sense of scope without losing the taboo vibe inherent in stories linked to this name, and a strong addiction metaphor and you have a solid package.

Plot: A helpless drunkard with an innate talent for banishing demons is stuck in a destructive cycle that might be his ultimate undoing. Though it is derailed by bad acting, repetitiveness, and largely ineffective attempts at dark humor, there are still hints of something that could of been greater than it ended up being. Some moments will legitimately make you wish they would of hit a home run with the material. It's very rough around the edges production-wise but sometimes that proves to give it something of a gritty atmosphere. All in all, this one proves more wasted potential than not. Still, there is no shame in attempting something unique in this particular sub-genre.
